I’ve been writing about the Org timer about a month ago, and today I’m revisiting this topic because once I started using it, I discovered a cool feature which is, let’s say, half-documented. The manual doesn’t seem to mention it at all, but the last paragraph of the docstring of org-timer-set-timer
says:
By default, the timer duration will be set to the number of minutes in the Effort property, if any. You can ignore this by using three ‘C-u’ prefix arguments.
Since I started (well, a bit) using effort estimates, this turned out to be really nice – I can just press C-c C-x ;
when on a headline with an estimate and the timer just starts without me having to tell it the number of minutes. Nice!
