  • 02:03 UTC (new) (history) 2015-01-03 New Emacs . . . . Marcin Borkowski “Breaking” news;-): long after everybody else, I decided to upgrade my Emacs. I started by cloning the Emacs Git repository (in fact, to save download time I did a shallow clone only). I also installed the dependencies needed to compile Emacs (this was sudo apt-get build-dep emacs24 on Ubuntu). Then, I ran make, and that’s it! The only thing left was sudo make install, and everything was working! Well, almost everything.

  • 10:45 UTC (new) (history) 2014-12-27 Info dispatch . . . . Marcin Borkowski There has been some talk about ditching (tex)info in favor of some new shiny thingy called Asciidoc. Like many other people, I hope RMS won’t agree to this craziness: info is one of the best things since sliced bread.

It is extremely useful. It is a bit less known that a hacker’s life without Emacs is rather terrible. However, given two great tools, one wonders whether they could not be made to work together?
