The book is entitled Theory of hyperconvex metric spaces: a beginner’s guide. Hyperconvex spaces are a very interesting (though a bit abstract) topic between mathematical analysis and topology. They have remarkable properties; the book is mainly devoted to their connections with fixed point theory.

Marcin Borkowski – Today’s post will be quite technical, but it might be useful for someone, so I’m sharing what I have learned some time ago. Assume that you are writing a command which should take two parameters. When called interactively, it should ask for both of them in the minibuffer. However (and here the tricky part comes), you want the prompt for the second one to include the first one.

The talks were interesting, people were nice, and the IRC discussion was inspiring. (In fact, it inspired me to ad-lib a lightning talk on Emacs Calc.) Also, I decided to announce a certain project.

It is going to be held in San Francisco; of course, I won’t be able to attend it in person, but I will give a talk remotely. (There will be quite a few remote participants/speakers.) I’m not sure if and how it would be possible to just watch the talks live if you don’t actually take part in the conference, but AFAIK, the videos of the talks will be recorded and published online later.
